Mission:
Sole Survivor
Location: Ready room
Timeline: MD 04 - 1630
[Ready Room]
Handing the last of the padds needing his endorcement over to Sizia, “Anymore?”
“No sir. All the paperwork is done...for today anyway.”
He huffed an minor laugh at the warning, “Well tomorrow will take take of itself...tonight is just starting. Any plans?”
She shrugged, “Nothing special sir. Might take a swim, might see if the holodeck is available. Then again I just might curl up with a good book.”
He heard her but in all the options she mentioned she was by herself. “No one to hang out with?”
“No sir.”
He reply came too quick for a friendly conversation. “Hmmm...I wou...”
She cut him off, “I'm sorry but I can't...not yet.”
Being cut off by his Yeoman was surprising to say the least but he had stepped into an area that was still hard for her. “My apologies. I over stepped. But I want you to talk to the counselor about what happened.”
“Sir...”
This time it was his turn to cut her off, but he did so with a raie of his hand and he took a moment before he spoke. “Don't make me make it an order.”
Sizia's head dropped and she nodded. “I will....I'm sorry sir.”
“Nothing to be sorry about. Losing a friend is never easy. Goodnight Sizia.”
A slight smile returned to her face. “Thank you sir. You to.”
As the door closed behind her Daegan leaned back and after a few moments he turned to the replicator stand behind him. “Whiskey sour. Non synthahol.” Taking the drink he sipped it allowing himself a moment of silence to relax. As he did the subtle hum of the ships could be heard only to be covered by his own breath.
Setting his glass aside there was one other duty before calling it a day.
"Captain's Log Stardate - 77204.06
"We are nearing the end of our 4th day into our explorations. The ship is performing magnificently as is the crew. However, so far we have only had to test normal operations under ideal conditions. The true test of our new ship and her crew has yet come but when it does there is no doubt in my mind that that both will rise to the challenge.
"To date, nothing of significant has been found, not that I had expected us to find some unknown civilization in the first few days of our expedition...especially with the Valkyrie still in known space. Once we go behind the veil though, regardless of what we find...or don't find...out there, we will be making history with every lightyear we push into the unknown.
"One addition to the crew of note. While at Starbase 152 there was a request from a former Captain Devin Hadenbeer to join the crew as the ship lounge manager. Needless to say I found the request by a former captain to take such a post odd. Especially and officer with as...colorful... a record as she has. Her request was granted so we shall see how things go.”
After finishing the log he tapped the padd on his desk and we watched as the holo-monitor faded. Taking another health drink he setting glass on the replicator and it vanished as it was recycled. Rising he left his ready room bidding the beta-shift bridge crew a good night.
