In Earth's Norse mythology a Valkyrie was a symbol of fairness and honor; a bright shining example in the cold and dark of the north. She was a supernatural being that flew over land and sea searching and protecting those she cared for. A Valkyrie was charged with finding those warriors worthy to enter the halls of Valhalla.

The year is 2400 and a new century has dawned. So much has happened in the last 25 years. The Dominion War ended, The USS Voyager returned from the Delta Quadrant, and the Romulan Empire opened up to the Federation. With the rebuilding of the fleet, the new technology brought back by Voyager, and the stabilization of the region a new age has dawned for the Federation.
The Borg are a fading threat, Romulan relations are still improving, the Cardassians are still causing trouble and full of bluster, and the Klingons are, well..., still Klingons. With Federation's return to its core mission of exploration, they are once again answering the call of the unknown. As Picard once said, “...the unknown is what brings us out here”.
One of the newest ships brought into service is the USS Valkyrie, a Vesta class starship equipped with state of the art technologies, including a Quantum Slipstream Drive (QSD). With a QSD at their disposal the unknown has opened up like never before.
About the Valkyrie...
- We operate in a Nemesis timeline. Meaning we do not follow the events set in motion by the Abrams Star Trek. In other words - Romulus is still intact. This means we operate with most of the technology from Picard but get to write our own path, unbound by the limits set forth in the Abrams movies (Kelvin timeline), DSC, PIC, PRO, LD, or SNW.

What Was Lost Is Found
As the Valkyrie's crew continues their explorations and search for the Defiled, they come across a relic of the past. A ship once thought mysteriously lost found hundreds of light years were it should have been.
MISSION SERIES:
The Defiled
While exploring the uncharted areas of the Beta Quadrant, the Valkyrie discovers a biological threat unknown to Federation medical science. After it's discovery they will be sent to track down it's origins to see how far it has spread as they try to find a way to stop it.

Marcus Chen was a fairly new arrival to the Valkyrie. He'd met the folks in his department. His department chief was handsome, if you cared for the exotic type. Marcus wasn't. Not exactly. "Here," Ryan said quietly. He gathered the shirt, shook it out once, and held it open as Marcus shifted on the bench. The gesture wasn't meant to be intimate, but it became that anyway. The gym light caught Marcus's shoulders. They were smooth, precise, and just the kind of shape earned through discipline.
He slipped one sleeve over Marcus's arm, then the other, careful of the ankle and the wince that seemed to twitch across the younger man's face when he moved. Ryan's fingers brushed his skin just above the elbow and lingered a moment longer than necessary.

It had been a month since Darius and his estranged husband had been on board and they had barely spoken to each other. They had passed each other in the halls several times, even shared a turbolift once. When they did have a conversation, which hadn't happened enough where Darius was concerned had been professional. They had been civil and polite, but they hadn't actually talked.
So, Darius had gotten tired of waiting, patience may have been a virtue, but it wasn't one that Darius actually practiced.

The Valkyrie dropped from warp and approached the ship that had drawn them here. The Ulysses had been parked at a LaGrange Point between the planet and it's moon. Both the saucer section, what was left of it, and the engineering hull had clear evidence of weapons fire from an old battle. No lights were visible, nothing flashed. Pieces of the hull had been removed from various areas, and in some places the space frame itself was visible.
